This project stemmed from my interest in the 'Witch Craze' (a period in early modern Europe between 1450-1750 in which the fear of witchcraft and magic escalated dramatically, causing mass hysteria, suspicion and fear.)
Before the 'Witch Craze' reached England magic was practiced by 'knowledgable folk' who offered medicines which combined magic, rituals and natural remedies.  These healers also offered protection from 'dark magic' and so were valued in society.
